One of the most important aspects in representing the identity of society is based upon its architectural heritage. Losing the identity of urban areas became a phenomenon with accepting modernism as a dominant architectural expression of the past century. A precondition for finding the most optimal approach in today’s architectural pluralism is to increase awareness of our own surroundings. If we are missing data on who built our city and how it was built, it is most definite that we will end up forgetting our history of building and our essential particularity and therefore lose the foundation necessary for future architectural ventures.
Women architects of Novi Sad is a contribution to this base of knowledge in our city’s contemporary architecture. It contains results of a research conducted by a group of architecture students and practicing architects G91 with a goal to explore the presence and role of women architects in shaping the built environment of Novi Sad. This database provides information about a specific aspect of our identity: it introduces women who were/are actively involved in building our city and it also shows analysis that emerged from the research.
